Investigation of the Interfacial Characteristics and Mechanical Properties of Duplex Stainless Steel/Low-Alloy Steel Clad Rebar

In this work, duplex stainless steel/low-alloy steel-clad rebars were fabricated using metal deposition and hot rolling. The interfacial characteristics of the rebar, such as element diffusion phase composition, investigated an optical microscope a scanning electron with energy-dispersive spectrometer. mechanical properties rebar evaluated by tensile bending tests. results show that interface is composed carburized layer on steel side decarburized low-alloy side; they also exhibits good properties, 435 MPa yield strength, 630 24.8% percentage elongation. reduction in cladding thickness at rebar’s transverse rib root was studied ABAQUS software. reduced due to effect groove shape during rolling process. cracked after thinning brittle fractures martensite layer.
